Average Commuter Weight
thought it would be interesting to find the average weight of posters to different threads such as commuters; 50 + and road cycling. if its actually interesting I'll share the results with each group. 1st 10 responders get included except if I can figure out how to make a poll. can a poll calculate an average? just reply with your weight and I'll do the math. I'll go 1st

Allow me to give a triple response as a year-round commuter (once they get enough snow/ice removed that I can navigate my alternate no-MUP route with some margin of safety), 50+, and a recreational roadie: 148# (measured late last week on a real doc-office style scale), 143# last summer (same scale). [I was going to make a bad joke about my average weight but thought better.]
I'm afraid to compare the weight of my road bike "loaded" for a summer ride (23mm tires, seat pack, 2xwater bottles) vs the commuter right now (35mm studded knobbies, fenders, pannier, lights, water bottle + coffee thermos).

Right now 219. Yeah, after the weight loss and all. I had some back problems and time off the bike (no excuse, I know). It's not going to last through summer though.

I don't really know, exactly. Call it 170.
I'm pretty sure I've gained weight since I started cycling last May. Gotta love swapping fat for muscle.

To make a poll, there's an option at the bottom when you post a new thread. You make the post, then submit it, and then a new page will load where you can make the poll. By the way, asking for BMI would be more informative than weight, since it will account for the varying heights of the repondants. Body fat % would be even better, I guess, but most of us won't know that.
