i wish i had snow to ride in. it looks like fun. but it would be a pain in the ass and some money out of the ass to get a pair of studded tires. maybe 100$ for a set

Okay, I have my new Marathon Winter tires. They were relatively easy to install on my Alex rims (stock on LHT).

I don't really need them at this point, Sunday was in the 60s and melted most everything. It's cold again, and there were some flurries this morning. I don't believe we'll get slick roads again, but I'll ride the studs a few more days just in case.

They are a little slower. They do make the "sizzling" noise on dry pavement. Other than that, they're just tires. I wish I could find some ice to try them out.

crank those babies up to their MAX pressure and they'll roll better. Hope you get some ice. I road without my studs Sunday and yesterday and was surprised to see some black ice. I was glad I spotted it before it spotted me. 60 degrees? We're all jealous in Massachusetts.

sizing is the key, everything else you can fix or add. though it helps if it's not a POS

I noticed in one of the other threads in the BikeForums a mention of the Kona Worldbike. Hope to give it a ride by end of March. A bit late for this years winter weather but, other than the brakes, fits what I was looking for. Still looking on Craiglist, though, in case the demo doesnt impress.
