...kindly hand off the necessary "key" when you're dropping your bike off at the LBS for a tune-up, so we can get the wheels off and give your bike a proper tune-up. Thank you. :)

I thought "locking" skewers need only an Allen wrench. Are there some that have a key cylinder?

No, those are called "bolt on".

Locking skewers use a keyed nut and matching wrench. See Pinhead or Pitlock.
