One of those days

So I made it out of the house this morning without my glasses, water bottle, gloves...

What a morning. I sure hope the ride home goes a little smoother.

Anyone else have one of those days?

Yes I have (too many times to tell), but one of my coworkers actually got all the way to work (14 miles) before he figured out he forgot his helmet. I found that to be interesting.

I've made it down the block without my helmet. One of the few things I will turn around for. I usually prevent all this by setting everything out the night before. Sometimes you just space everything out and pay the price.

I've done that, on a 9.5 mile commute. Since it was winter, and I also wore a wind blocker and a ski cap under the helmet, I didn't notice its absence till I got to work and tried to take it off so I could store my gloves in it

I keep spare undergarments in my desk drawer at work. They've saved me from embarassment or wearing a bulky cardigan sweater on more than one occasion.

One day I decided to adjust my cantis before setting out for home. Fortunately, I was rolling to a stop light on an uphill when I realized I'd forgotten to reconnect the cables.

I did the same thing once, I ended up stopping by using my feet though.

One time I forgot to pack dress socks, undershirt, belt, and shower kit (deodorant, shaving stuff, comb, etc.). It was during the dog days of summer and I hammered into work. Interesting day.

Every day... don't have much use for any of those things.

Dress shoes, that's it for me. On my ride home, just when I'm about the ride the first few yards I realize I am still wearing dress shoes... (have to lock up everything, go back up to the office and change shoes). Very annoying.

One morning last winter, i got as far as pulling the bike out of the garage before realizing I didn't have my riding shoes on; can't attach to ATAC with walking shoes....

Got all the way to the office and realised I had forgotten my courier bag with everything -- office pass, money, work clothes. Turned round and rode all the way back.

Then I switched to a pannier, and started putting stuff in it the night before.

my change of clothes once. once. Calling the wife from the locker room wet and naked will leave a mark.

Underwear, socks, belt, and lunch on different occasions were all a nuisance to forget. Now I roll up 5 sets of outfits on Sunday in trunkbag-sized packs. I grab one the night before and pack the trunkbag. I just have to remember the belt because I don't have 5 of those available. My deoderant, keys, and wallet stay in there full time. In the morning I just put on weather-appropriate biking gear, grab the bag, add my lunch, and go.

I prefer to live on the edge. I pack after rolling out of bed. Keeps me sharp.
