Does this seat exist and have you ever used it?

Last week I was at a Walmart and saw a bike seat which I believe was called a 'Bell Sherpa' (or something to that effect). It was a comfort seat that opened up (with a button on the back of it) to reveal a small storage compartment. I thought this might be a good fit for a comfort bike I am putting together. Rather than buy it right off I figured I'd go home and read some reviews on it.

Well after searching high and low (and even scanning every bike seat offered on Walmart's website, and looking all over Amazon) there doesn't appear to be anything on this seat anywhere - I couldn't even find anything on Bell's website. Has anyone every heard of this seat/ever used it? Maybe I am crazy and it doesn't really exist :).

I am going to check back at that particular Walmart but I was curious if anyone had heard of it.

That one looks nicer than the walmart version. I put the Bell version on my wife's grocery store bike. It's only a half mile ride so any saddle would work for that. I wouldn't want to ride my longer work commute on it. For one it is far to heavily padded for me. It also has that thin spandex over gel that wears quickly and will be peeling off before long. The storage compartment is a pretty cool idea though.

To me, you might be limiting your seat choices alot just because you want a neat storage compartment in there. You might end up sacrificing ride quality instead of getting the seat that would fit you. If you need a small compartment you can easily pick the right seat and just one of those mini accessory bags.

something like this that just hides under your bike seat (there are smaller sizes if you want):

and having the right seat that can work for you would go a long way on your cycling enjoyment.

I agree, it doesn't look like a very good saddle, and it's really no different than any saddle with a saddle bag under it. I'd rather just add a bag to a saddle that fit me well.

I'm not sure I want the word "welcome" printed on the outside of a storage compartment for anyone that happens to be walking by...
