I want to get a rack on by Specialized Allez. There are no braze ons on the bike. How did you do it?

Besides using P clamps, here are other ideas...

Get a rack from Old man Mountain. They have racks for every kind of bike (full suspension, disc, etc), regardless if the bike has braze-ons. I just got mine in the mail today. I can't wait to snap it on.

Whoa. I didn't want to have to take out a loan. Racks are about $15 Cdn. here, and I can't see paying ten times that to compensate for no braze-ons.

And I don't have Campy-style dropouts, so that other option doesn't help me.

old man mountain's $125 rack? are you kidding me?

anyway just get a seatpost rack. clamps on to your seatpost. go to your local MEC or bike store. there are also pannier-systems for seatpost racks. i think it was axiom..again go to ur local bike store.

I think Blackburn and Performance makes a seatpost rack with side thingys to attach panniers to that cost about $35-$40...but seatpost racks have a weight limit of 25 pounds max. You can also get brackets seperate to be used to attach a regular rack to a bike without eyelits; see: http://www.jandd.com/search_results....el=2&subcat=13
At that site you can get a 40 to 50 pound load carrying rack starting at $40 plus the brackets for only .75cents each. So no you don't need to spend $125 for a pannier system.

This is something that an LBS might be good for. My LBS clearly had lots of experience putting racks on bikes without braze-ons. I had them do fenders at the same time as they also required some tricks to hang.

If your load isn't too heavy, try what I have. It's a Delta seat post mount rack. Max weight is about 25 pounds. Nashbar has it for $35.

Here is my setup with that rack.
