Tyres

Hi All

I have a boardman 2010 comp which i love and has been brilliant for the last month, now 2 days on the spin i have punctured tyres.
Lots of people have recommended the Specialized all weather tyre but i have a question.

My current tyres are Maxxis Detanator 700x28c, what does the 'c' mean and how important is it? if i buy 2 x Specialized 700x28 All Weather without the 'c' is that OK?

Thanks for the advice in advance.

My daily commute is 8miles round trip on various standards of road surface.

I wouldn't buy a tire called Detonator.

Go by the ISO/ERTRO tire size, which should be 28-622. Sheldon Brown has a good explanation of tire sizing.

The c is a historical artifact (as is the 700, for that matter). Sometimes you see it, sometimes you don't. Any mass produced tire labeled 700 is going to be 700c. So, 700x28 is the same as 700x28c.

The "c" is a carry-over from old sizing nomenclature. The 28 is actually a millimeter measurement of tire width, (as the company reports it; the actual measurement may be a little bit different). Switching from 1 company's 28mm tire to another company's 28mm tire, there should be very little difference in actual size.

Thanks for the info everyone.
I bought the Specialized All Weather Armadillo tyres. They seem to score very well on reviews.
