Should be ready to start building soon enough. Got most of the parts together in the last week using Ebay. Managed to come well under my projected budget on most items. Wheelset was probably the one I under estimated, though if you don't include shipping I was only a dollar and a few cents off. I've also decided to run a wider gear range on this, so I'll be running a double crankset up front.
My part list so far: Shimano 105 crank, currently a single 44T chainring. I'm going to add a 38T. Shimano Ultegra FD Shimano Deore LX RD (I'm going to pull this off my current bike) Shimano 105 Brake Levers (non-STI) 11-25 9 speed cassette Shimano clipless A520 pedals VO Saddle (pulled off current bike) NYC Bikes Cyclocross Fork Dura Ace hubs on Matrix ISO C-II rims Tektro Road Brakes At this point I am $163.99 under budget (Doesn't include the RD or saddle I am taking off the old bike) from the $512.50 I originally projected. Need to get a bottom bracket, the new chainring, headset and the cables and other bits to get it going. |
What are youndoing for handlebars and stem? Youll want to have them before you cut the fork.

Trying to figure out what I need, actually. Might go with one of the Nitto bars and play with the stem rise. I've been liking my bars right at the saddle height or a bit higher.

If you wouldn't mind, keep us up to date on the build. I'm interested to see how you can build a bike for under $500, even with a 1x9 drivetrain. What are you going to use for a shifter? And what are you thinking for wheels?
