I won a free bike!

As a couple people already noticed a couple weeks ago, I won a free bike from People For Bikes.

I went to the bike shop today to pick it up, and its a b-e-a-u-tiful Breezer Uptown EX.

I love the chain guard, the metal fenders, all of it.

This thread would of course be worthless without a picture:

Congrats Mike! That is a lovely prize. I especially like the matching fenders. It looks really swish. Happy riding!

That is one smart-looking commuter! Very jealous over here. Congratulations!

Nice looking townie. Now hurry, go get a lotto ticket while your luck is still strong.

Very nice. Now we need a ride report.

Groovy!

That's a beaut, Mike. I was just thinking about Joe Breeze on the trip in this morning. Congratulations.
I'll second the motion for a ride report.

Very nice bike... enjoy it!!

A few weeks back we had a bike-commuter rally here in Louisville and a Trek 7000 was raffled off. The person who won it wasn't even at the event when his name was anounced. The following day I saw it posted on Craigslist and it's been posted several times since:

Congrats! How did you win it?

Nice!!!

The Breezer line is one of my favourites out there... great bikes at a great price and with the way they are fitted out there is very little one needs save for their personal gear.

No surprise that they are considered one of the best off the peg commuters on the market.

Thanks for all the congratulations! I've been riding it around the last couple days and quite enjoy it.

Ride report? The ride is nice and cushy. Its geared quite low. 26x1.5 tires combined with a 38t chainring and 14-34T freewheel gives 28-68 gear inches. Its fine for riding around town. Might be perfect for when I move back to Golden and I have to climb the big hills to get to the plateau that school sits on. In the relatively flatness that Denver is, I've topped out a few times in 7th. Otherwise, the ride is smooth and fun.

I signed up for the peopleforbikes.org pledge. They were giving away two Breezer Uptowns and two Trek Allants.

Agreed. I actually wanted one of the uptown models with a dynamo and an internal gear hub. Would make a perfect commuter.

I've got a dynamo hub I'm going to lace into the front rim. Now, just to find a good IGH for the rear.

Nice!
That looks like a very purposeful bike.... and I like the color.
