I used to have a 52 mile round-trip commute. But there was a large hill 1/3 of the way in that would have severely slowed me & tired me out before I got to work. So I drove to the top of the hill then biked the rest of the way in. Biking back to the car up the hill I got a great work out.

My commute is 30 miles each way, I started in April this year and ride in one day, home the next, taking the bus in between. I've done it both ways 9 times, the most important thing I've found (other than making sure I have clothes at work) is staying hydrated-found out the hard way. Timing-wise, my bus commute is 1 hour, my bike commute is 1:45, but a lot more fun. And I'm 57.

I usually stretch my commute to 30 isn miles for fun. It's fine. Took me a while to work up to it though.

At the beginning of the year I was 100+lbs overweight and completely sedentary though.

I think 33 is going be outside the realm of regular full-ride bike commuting. for me 13 ea way is ideal cuz then I get it done in about an hour
