Favorite iPhone app to track your mileage?
Just started using Motion-X and dig it so far.
iBker. wonderful product. latest version is really nice. uses ANT+ device to communicate with speed/cadence/heart rate monitors. records everything and uploads to online website. love it. gave up on iPhone GPS as it skips all over the place on my route. YMMV with built-in GPS. have tried Trailguru, iMapmyride, iTrail. all are nice but I still use iBiker daily as it works.
I tried Trailguru, but it seems like it's not being maintained any more - a few of its features didn't work and didn't provide that much detail other than total time and distance. I've since switched to CycleMeter and am liking all the other features it has - kilometer split times, total times, graphs, routes etc...the GPS isn't perfect but that's more the phone than the app I think...
I used Cyclemeter and B.icycle. Both are fine. I kinda like the Cyclemeter better. One thing for sure, you may consider an external battery pack or sleeve. I have an Incase Power Slider battery sleeve that help extends the life of the battery.
I like Cyclemeter, but I find that GPS measurements are not as accurate as my bike computer. I'm not exactly sure how it judges distance, but it ends up being off about half a mile in 10 miles, which lowers my average speed, according to the app. It's a decent app, though and has a good interface.

I don't know if this app is available for the iphone, but on my android phone I love Cardio Trainer. It has web and Facebook plugins, you can race against your previous times, has configurable updates with pace / distance traveled / time on the road, and it covers all of the basics. It even has music player integration.

So far i've tried MotionX GPS and BikeMyWay.
BikeMyWay is a bare-bones GPS logger, made this way to save battery and be able to track longer distances, but it never worked for mew and MotionX always works, with great accuracy. |
I tried a few, but the battery usage was way too heavy for me. I recently switched to a Garmin Edge 500.
I started using Runkeeper. It tracks multiple sports so I can log all my swimming and running in one spot online. It's got the auto-gps mapping, elevation etc. in the free version which is plenty for me. I'm sure the paid service has all the bells and whistles.
And, I set it to automatically update my facebook page with my recent activity so everyone can see how awesome I am :) |
Google's own MyTracks works well, not sure if Dictator Steve will allow it.
I've only used RunKeeper, but I really like it.
I typically use my Garmin 500 or 510. But still keep Strava on my cell phone just incase I'm riding a bike with no mount or cadence/speed dohiki.
Not a huge fan of the smart phone apps due to heavy battery usage. I upload all my Garmin files to Strava and their app is convenient to use so an easy decision for me. |
I'm pretty happy with MapMyRide app, but Strava seems to be more popular for biking.
Strava works.
Runmeter for me.
Strava. It's great and it has a big community. I've found a lot of great routes and recreational rides by starting to following other riders who live in my area. It also integrates with Garmin, Suunto, Timex, tomtom and soleus so if you have a bike computer/gps from one of those companies or if you buy one in the future you can upload your data instead of using your phone. I use the android app since I have a cheap $30 computer
I use Strava on my iPhone but also have a very old, cheap wire bike computer.
