2nd PB Superflash fell off.. ;_;

Ugh.. i'm done with the PB Superflash. I've lost my second one due to hitting big bumps today. Both times the whole front part, with my rechargeable batteries as well, fell off the back casing.

The first time I arrived at home, reached to turn it off and saw that it was lost somewhere on the ride. This morning, I hit a huge bump, heard a plastic hitting pavement sound, and looked back to see a car turning onto it..

I use rubber bands cut from an old tube to secure everything on the bike.

I must have the best luck with the PBSF. I've never lost one or had one leak (the two leading complaints I hear about them) and I've ridden all sorts of horrible terrain, jumped speed bumps, curb drops, potholes, ride a 10hr 200km in the rain...
The only one I no longer have is one I gave to a friend because he didn't have any blinkies.

hmm, perhaps constantly taking it apart so you can recharge/replace the batteries wears the casing excessively?
I just use Lithium AAAs with mine and they last for months at a time. Never had one come apart while riding.

I only had this last one for around 2 months, only opened the case once to put in my batteries.

This is why I HATE coin-release mechanisms in bicycle tail lights. Eventually something is going to wear out and you will lose the lid of your light somewhere if not secured on somehow. My Mars 3 is kept together with a few small screws which is MUCH more secure. I lost the lid of my previous coin-release light which was annoying.

I like the PB Superflash but it seems sort of silly to have to tighten a rubber band around it.

Even the potholes and speedbumps are bigger in Texas.

Cross county last summer, coming down a hill at 37 mph in PA toward a Dam, I hit the transition joint in the road and needed a testicle transplant from the bump.

+1.
In fact I think I've twisted a few coins trying to pry mine apart. OK maybe they're not that hard to get off but it takes quite a bit of effort.

Not a problem for me, so far at least ... but the rubber band is a nice solution.

It is what I call Insurance.
It also makes one check the mounting when you check the rubber band.

I used to use a rubber band, but instead, I started to wrap a turn of cellophane tape around the seam between the two pieces. Helps keep moisture out and keeps the lens on, too.

I seem to be switching over to the Radbot blinky now, anyway.

I use a very small zip tie to keep mine on, and it's never fallen off.
I do like the cut tube rubber band idea though.

The ones I've lost have had other traumas first. Once they go all slippy, there seems to be no turning back (short of rubber bands)

I've lost one of those long time ago, and ever since that happened I've been using a rubber band, it works great for holding the light.

Ditto. Had it come apart once that came up with the same solution.

i clip on a cateye 3 LED red light on an article of clothing as an additional rear light if i am riding in nyc at night. the schwalbe tires have reflective sidewalls, the mtx trunk bag has some additional reflective striping if on as well.

That inner tube solution seems like it works well, but wouldn't a regular rubber band work just fine?
