Riding Playlist
Hey all, this might be more appropriate in the training forums, but I think it'd be good here...
If you could have a riding playlist, what would be on it and why? Is it inspirational, or just enjoyable?
Add it to the playlist! I'll start with 2:
#1: Cobrastyle by TeddyBears-fun beat to get into a rythm
#2: Waving Flag by K'naan-just inspirational....its the theme song for this year's world cup, plus I just heard it on a youtube clip from UPA Club Nationals '09, and i want to get out and train!

Actually I do enjoy Doubledutch Bus by Frankie Smith.
I like the part where the Lyric said something like "I got a hole I'm my sock and I'm gonna take the bus"
In my case it's more like bicycle instead of the bus.

Digging the classic rock, but I also have been known to rock some funk, R&B, blues, jazz, etc.
It's hard not to get motivated listening to Tower of Power, or the Blues Brothers.

So I listen to stuff with fast tempos just to help me get in the mood. Wakes me up in the morning, and the songs provide a nice beat to pedal to.
Here's a pop-ish music playlist for biking:
Batman - The Marketts
Organ Donor - DJ Shadow
Such Great Heights - Postal Service
The Purple Bottle - Animal Collective
Crimewave (crystal castles vs health) - Crystal Castles
Heart it Races - Architecture in Helsinki
15 Step - Radiohead
Party and Bulls*** (Ratatat remix) - Notorious B.I.G.
Woof Woof - Dan Deacon
My commute only takes that long when I take the scenic route back on the way back. Listening with headphones in two ears is illegal in NY, so if you're cycling on busy roads you should probably follow the rules.

Riding Playlist
Last year I started a thread with a similar intent on the Fifty Plus Forum, "Cycling Playlist Exchange" in which I proposed subscribers to put their playlists on their personal profile:
https://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...aylist-Exchang
You can see my entire list of about 250 songs on my own profile in the visitor message section. In the OP of that thread I explain how to do it. My list is very different from what I've seen here; it's Big Band and Rock Golden Oldies, almost all before 1980.

It's stupid, perhaps, but the one song that really fires me up while on a bike is "I'm So Angry" by Alice Cooper. Fast and furious. Otherwise, my playlist is a mixed bag from pop to metal (Celine Dion to 3 Inches of Blood), the common theme being very upbeat or aggressive music.

For night riding I go for my ska playlist:
- Skatellites
- MU330
- The Toasters
- Skankin' Pickle
- The Pietasters
- Regatta 69
It's upbeat and happy to keep spirits high when cranking through the 2am darkness.
Daytime, it's a tough choice:
My church metal playlist is my usual Sunday music.
- Seventh Angel
- One King Down
- No Innocent Victim
My Punker playlist is good for generally keeping the pace up.
- Dead Kennedys
- Dwarves
- Reagan Youth
- Crass
- Fear
- Minutemen
All sorts of 80s political punk and some other stuff for good measure.
My sXe list is for aggro climbing or headwinds:
- Judge
- Gorilla Biscuits
- Youth of Today
- Strife
Angry, screaming, way too loud and fast for anyone's good.

I'll listen to just about anything while I ride. My cell phone speaker is just loud enough to be heard but easily drowned out by traffic (which is a good thing in my mind).
Anyway, my better playlists include:
My Morning Jacket
The Avett Brothers
Van Halen
Amateur Radio Operator
Social Distortion
Buckethead
MC5
Super 400
The Lonely Forest
Alberta Cross
Bloc Party
TV on the Radio
Helmet
The Whigs (EGUNWT)
Band of Horses
