What time do you go to sleep?

I am not a morning person at all. I am so slow to get moving in the am, and probably has a direct result with I am so slow on the morning commute. I am up by 6am, so I can be ready to leave by 7am...and to me these times are awful. I don't believe humans were designed to be up so early..especially the one writing this post. And it is beyond my comprehension how some of you commute for 50-60 minutes.

Anyhow I have found if I am in bed by 9:30-10pm, It really helps getting up earlier to bike in to work.

So...what time do you hit the sack?

canyoneagle 07-17-10 09:32 PM

I vary my schedule with the seasons. I stay up later in the summer, usually until 11 PM or so, and try to hibernate in winter - no later than 8:30 to 9:00.

I'm also not a morning person.

billyymc 07-17-10 09:58 PM

I typically go to sleep around midnight, alarm goes off at 5:08 a.m.

Yeah, I know - I should get more sleep.

fredward 07-17-10 10:07 PM

hmmm... i'd do your poll thing, but the earliest i can get to bed is 2am. doesn't matter what i do or if i have to wake up early on a regular basis, i just can't sleep.

You have my sympathy. at least 30% of the time it takes me several hours from "bed time" to actually fall asleep. 2-3 (or 4) hours of tossing and turning, fully aware of the passage of time, makes for a crappy night's sleep regardless of when it actually comes.

How do you do it then? How do you get up a few hours later and cycle 20-30-40...minutes to work?

St. Urho 07-18-10 12:41 AM

I go to bed about 10 AM and get up around 6 PM. I start work at 9:30 PM.

i don't know about canyoneagle, but i do it because i have to. i have to get to work and i've never had a car. it's necessity.

tligman 07-18-10 01:27 AM

I usually go to bed between midnight and one, and get up around 7:45 so I can leave by 8:15 and get to work before 8:30. Wow do I love a short commute :)

dedhed 07-18-10 01:37 AM

In bed by 12A sometimes 1A, maybe 11P in winter (furnace goes off at 10). Get up at 5:30A on the road by 6:30, maybe a bit earlier when it's cold out and I'm slower/out of shape.

I do try to get a nap 15 min or so at lunch. 25 mi round trip commute, 2 hr real time daily.

devianb 07-18-10 01:48 AM

3 to 4 am. I start work in the afternoon.

12bar 07-18-10 03:58 AM

In bed around 10 and up between 4:30 and 5:00.

Yan 07-18-10 04:41 AM

Midnight is 12am, not 12pm. Thus I cannot vote.

wolfchild 07-18-10 05:37 AM

I usually go to bed around 9:30-10:00. I have never been a strong sleeper. I always wake up during the night. For most of my life I have been getting around 5-6 hours of sleep, I know it's not much, but those few hours of sleep combined with power naps during the day has been enough for me. It is possible to train oneself to go with very little sleep. Meditation and power naps during the day will do a lot to keep me going if I don't get enough sleep during the night. I love getting up early in the morning.

xtrajack 07-18-10 05:53 AM

It varies, I work third shift, some days I am in bed by 08:30, other days I don't even see my bed until 17:00 or later. Either way, I have to get up by 20:30 to be at work in time to cool down, BS with my friends, drink a cup of coffee, ect. and I start work at 23:00.

Spudd 07-18-10 05:59 AM

Biking to work only takes me 11 minutes, so I don't have to make a special effort to get up early. However, I like to be at work by 7:45am (I have standing meetings daily at 8am). I usually go to bed around 9:30, hope to be asleep by 10, and get up around 6.

macteacher 07-18-10 06:59 AM

Sorry for not including sleep times at 7-10am. I know some of you work the graveyard shift and actually go to sleep when most of us are starting our day...In the interests of keeping the poll condensed I just went with the standard sleep times.

That being said, my goal for sept is going to be in bed for 9:30 and hopefully sound asleep for 10pm

shizzy 07-18-10 08:24 AM

I feel it all day if i'm not in bed by 10PM. im up at 6am.

Yep, I typically need to be at work by 8 AM, and (need to) wake up the same time every day regardless of how many hours I've slept.

nahh 07-18-10 10:02 AM

I need to be at work by 8:30 (but only for the next 2 weeks, then i'm outtta there!) and I go to bed between 12 and 1 most nights. I'm tired, but that's life.

mikewille 07-18-10 10:06 AM

Bedtime is 8-9pm, up at 3-4am to get to work and start at 5am

lvleph 07-18-10 10:53 AM

What time is 12 pm? lol

bk2wk 07-18-10 10:57 AM

off at 11pm, 5:15am to get to spinning class, back home & commute(5mi) by bicycle

rorban 07-18-10 12:08 PM

Bedtime is 9pm. Head hits the pillow and its lights out within 5 minutes or so. I'm up at 3:15am, work starts at 6am, and my round trip commute is 36 miles. Sometimes, I'm falling asleep around 7pm. I feel old even though I'm 24... :(
