The perils of vintage bikes. On my '62 Schwinn Jaguar IV (see Icon) the back of the rear rack ends with 4 supports for the rack tipped with reflectors. These are called "jewels". I was at the library, where there were about a half dozen people clustered, talking, resting ect. After unlocking my "senior citizen" I threw my right leg over the seat... and got the loop of my sneaker lace caught on one of the jewels. Now I'm hopping on one foot desperately trying to not fall while also kicking the trapped foot up and back trying to free the shoe. As I was about to fall the lace snapped and I was "Free at last! Free at Last! Thank God Almighty, Free at last!!!" The only response I got was a belated "You OK?" and a few smiles. The LEAST they could have done, considering I was like a whirling dervish, or a Kossack folk dancer, was to circle around me while keeping time clapping, as I jumped up and down .....ala the 3 Stooges". .. "Why I oughta....
