Storing Hitch Rack When Not in Use?????

Hello All!
relatively new user here with a 2010 Trek 7.5fx.
so far so good, great bike!
i just purchased a thule 912xt and installed it tonight. really nice rack too, fits the touareg perfectly.

now my question, do most of you store your racks when not planning on using them for a while?
if yes, any tips? with the "wings" i dont want to rest it in an odd way and cause any damage....

thanks!!!
Eric

I usually put mine away if I'm not using it. They should be pretty sturdy, I wouldn't be worried about messing it up by just leaning it against something. If you're worried, you can fold it up and hang it.

I store my Thule T2 in the basement between Nov and March. It is far too much of a beast to keep heaving around. It's built like a tank.

I leave mine on my vehicle. It's a Thule Parkway (non-collapsible) 4-bike rack.

I leave mine on. I don't know about others, but the hitch pin on my rack (Hollywood Sportrider2) threads into the rack through the hitch (does that make sense?). If you don't screw it in tight, the rack wobbles a lot. I use a nut with Loc-Tite so it would be a pain to remove frequently.
