Scott Sportster P4

Hi there this is my first post!

My employers have just started a cycle to work scheme and I was looking at the Scott Sportster P4 as a good commuting bike. Does anyone own one of these?, are they any good? or is there other bikes they would recommend around the £350-£400 mark.

Any feed back would be appreciated!

Thanks

Ben

What kind of roads? If the roads are in pretty good shape, you could do without the suspension. If you were riding on gravel/dirt,or planning some trail riding on weekends,it would be ok. The suspension can be locked out,but I think you'd do better with Scott's Sub series.

Funny, in place of your word scheme we use the word plan. To an American, scheme conjures up something that's not exactly legit or honest. Their scheme was to defraud their government by posing as fake bike commuters.

I thought it was funny when we were in Australia last year and I saw a building (in Manly, NSW, I think) labeled "Far East Children's Health Scheme" or something. I was trying to think of how a "health scheme" would work, but my wofe (a nurse) was not amused.

Divided by a common language, indeed. Can't wait to be in England next week.

I have a Scott Sub 20. It's pretty nice, the geometry is still fairly aggressive and I keep the tires up at the recommended 100PSI, so it's not the best off the road. It's fairly nimble and I prefer it over a hybrid type bike, I've ridden a road bike almost exclusively for the last year, but apparently I'm a bit too rough on them. I also have some Planet Bike fenders on it and plan on getting some kind of rack/basket setup for carrying stuff off of my back.
