Now, this is getting nerdy...

How nerdy is it to ride a fixed gear with a rack and panniers and fenders and home-made bits and a brake? How nerdy is it that I LOVE this bike?

Definitely some extra nerd points for the homemade mud flap. That's the Walmart tag that the kid forgot to snip off his polyester shirt.

The whole thing screams nerd.

PLUS tri bike riders can't ride, so like the nerd stereotype they are un co-ordinated...

That's what I tried to tell the guy on the C'dale tri bike that smoked past me like a Patriot missile last Saturday.

So far, none of the bikes pictured has a basket or milk crate which I feel completes the nerd factor.

How about the plastic tub on my snow and ice bike?

My Puch Meteor Lux. A good bike to ride in the rain. I guess this would be the nerdy kid that comes to school early and slips into the library until school starts, reading the Iliad.

Attachment failed (at least for me). BTW I love your blog, especially since I am a fellow Londonite.

Nerdy? One night my I'm coming home, lights ablazing (5 I think). Wife passes me (in her car) and even with the windows rolled up, I can hear her howling with laughter at me. Later she said I looked like an alien spaceship.

Oh, how about a cut-up 2-liter soda bottle for a makeshift fender? Nerdy enough? I'm the kid who wasn't smart enough for real math and engineering, but was handy with duct tape and whatever was lying around.

The nerdy gay guy who was into drama club and in all the school plays, but got away with it because he had good fashion sense and was friends with some of the popular girls.

Thanks for that link. They are comfortable except for when you climb hills. I may switch to flat bars as then I can crank better. But i do like the classic looks of these.
