Hook, line and sinker

Rolling along in thick traffic this afternoon, I fell prey to a classic right-hook. I was obviously in her blind spot, but if she had only indicated then I would have happily slowed. As it was, all went into slow-motion - just like the time I was actually hit - and I managed to turn with her, fending the car off with my left arm against the window, and wobbling and somehow staying upright, and worrying about what a mess I'd be if I went down here. Driver gave me an exceedingly sheepish and relieved look as she went past me after we'd disentangled; I was still too zoned-out to respond. I'm happy to have avoided injury and loss. Beware the right-hook!

Crazy. Kudos on the window-check maneuver.

Good riding, Yarb.

Yes, the driver's giving a signal would help -- but signals are rare, anymore.

But not a stop and an appology. TYPICAL!!!

Signals? Cars still come equipped with those?

Oh dear, happened to me the Friday before last. Same situation, probably in a blind spot, but she didn't signal. We were moving a bit faster I think, because though I tried to not fall, and turn with her, I ended up flying over the bars anyway. 5 stitches in my chin. I'm glad you're okay, be more careful! No more being next to cars going through intersections for me.

Sorry to hear about your faceplant. We were both doing probably about 15mph. Much faster and I wouldn't like my chances. I usually do take the lane when I'm close to the speed of traffic but I guess I should make that "always".
