P-clamps for lower rack mounting?

How well do P-clamps work for the lower rack mounting point on frames not equipped with eyelets?

Assume a 10-15 pound load consisting of laptop, lock, fleece to survive indoor air-conditioning, rain gear for the wet winter season, and Arkel commuter bag containing everything.

I've tried post-mounted racks - the Topeak isn't rigid enough to keep a pannier out of the wheels, the Axiom and Delta Post Porter quick release mounting clamps both rub on my thighs,

I don't want a quick release skewer mounting that I need to mess with when flatting.

I have located a frame builder in Santa Cruz who'll put eyelets on my titanium frame, although getting there is a bit of a hassle.

Plastidip coated steel ones should be OK, the dropout will keep it from going down more.

Tubus Airy or Carry would be a cool rack on a Ti Bike, It's made from Ti Too.

Note they have some clamp on mounting parts too, looks like stainless..

2 bolts , clamp with one mount with the other..
