Thought I wanted Trek 7.5, finally bought a "Giant Rapid 1" today

Had my sights set on a Trek 7.5. Rode it, stared at it for a while, decided in my head that it was the perfect bike. Looked at some other bikes too (Cannondale Quick, Specialized), but ruled them out. Thought OK, this process is over.

Then, someone mentioned "have you looked at a Giant"? Went the next day to the LBS to check out the Giant Rapid 2. This model compared pretty favorable with the Trek 7.5 fx price-wise. The LBS said he would sell me the 2010 Rapid 1 for basically the price of the 2011 Rapid 2. End of story.... I bought the 2010 Giant Rapid 1 !!!

I must say, I was very impressed at the level of components, paint quality, and overall layout of this bike. I figured this would be a much faster bike than the 7.5 fx, and yet I could still go on the rides with the kids, or ride on the 50 milers and keep up with the roadbikers.

I pick it up this weekend from the LBS ..... can't wait !
Pictures to follow ...stay tuned.

It's not as pretty as the FX 7.5 ;-) but the component group is certainly favorable...congrats though!

P.S. I'm a trekkie and I commute on a FX 7.5 so I might be a bit biased

And, that Rapid will ride just as soft as the FX, with fatter tires.... I wonder how fat it would take? 35? 40?

Probably 28 - 30 max, but no bigger. Rapid does not have the clearance that the 7.5 fx has. More like a road bike geometry. Comes with 25c.
