handlebar mirror
I am looking for a handlebar mount mirror. I was interested in the Mirrycle mirror but it requires me to cut the edge of my grip (there is no bar end cap to remove on my grip). I would rather avoid cutting the edge of the grip.
The only handlebar mount mirror I could find is the Bell Flexview but it doesn't seem to have good reviews. Could you suggest an alternative? Thanks. |
This is the only mirror I've ever used, but I like enough to have not tried another. It should mount anywhere on your handlebars.

+1 for griddlecakes mirror. also check Zefal "SPY" & from Blackburn, they have a mirror that goes on the grip and is held in place witha velcro strap

Only use this, tried a bunch of them and none were as good; http://www.zefal.com/zefal/produit.php?key=474001 Grips get used up with time anyway, it's consumable parts.

Eventhorizon, I take it that you do not want to cut off the end of your grip because that would result in an unsightly and sharp edge on your handlebar. But you can avoid that little problem if you just incise a hole in the end piece large enough for the Mirrycle arm base to pass through. (Center a Quarter on the grip end and trace closely around it with a pen, then cut out the circle with one of those curved nail scissors for a really neat job.)
The Mirrycle projects furthest from the handlebar of any rear-view I've seen, providing the best sight-lines. So it is worth a little finagling to fit it to your bike. |

Cut the grip, and mount the Myrricle. It's worth it.

For what it's worth, I did mount a Mirrcycle to the lady's bike and she complained that it kept bouncing out of alignment. I tried to tighten the swivel joint to no avail, so it went back to REI. Maybe we got a bad one, as most reviews I've read on the Mirrcycle are gushing with praise. My Rivendell mirror doesn't bounce at all, and the parabolic shape gives a great view of the road behind me. And you can mount it anywhere, over grips, tape, whatever. You can mount it to your fork even, although I found that my leg blocked the view directly aft. Works awesome on the handlebars, though. If the OP is dead set on not cutting or modding his/her grips, I think the Riv mirror would work great. http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4111/...f583bcca21.jpg |
