Thinking about ditching the brifters
Im just not loving them anymore and im thinking about switching to bar end shifters regular aero levers and going back to canti's, my problem is i want to try and spend as little as possible ive found levers for good prices but not bar end shifters, why are they so spendy? The last pair of sti's i bought granted they were soras where around 100 bucks and those are lever shifters so why are just shifters the same price. Does anyone know of a different brand that is perhaps even a little cheaper than shimano. Im not looking for crap but just trying to save a few bucks, but i have limited knowledge of bar end shifters

Also i think i know the answer to this but, a buddy says he'll give me a front bar end shifter, so all i need to find now is a rear one, also are the rear shifter indexed on most of them?

Lose the Index requirement, and you can get the price well down,
friction shifting has done well for me for 30 years..
the bar end shifters still appeal to the race bike set to go on the front of aero bars for
big tour time trials and Triathlons , thats why there are 10 speed bar end index stuff ..
I got a NIB set of 9 speed bar end shifters, never saw a reason to install them ..
stuck with my Suntour power ratchet, sprint micro ratchet down tube levers in bar end pods,
and Older Campag , straight friction bar end shifters ..
bar end shifters
Shimano index is a set, klick in bar has to be synced with the rear mech travel and the cog spacing..
in for a dime in for a dollar.
