Cruiser Commuting to work?
I am wondering how many people out there are commuting to work on a (beach) cruiser? My commute is about 5.5 miles and almost all flat (one hill that is very manageable) and I am considering picking up an inexpensive one for my commute.
My main reasoning is that I feel my bike, with drop bars and seat-above-the-handlebars design, is limiting me getting to see the world around me and enjoy the views. It is great for getting to work in a timely manner and making my commute very fast, but most of the time I give myself more than enough time to just mosey along and smell the roses as I go.
Winds are, with the exception of a few days a year, very predictable and not much of an issue. When I ride to work (southeast) winds are to my back. The ride home can vary a little more, but at midnight you get more of a "breeze" than an actual wind.
So, might be a dumb question since the commute is only a little over 5 miles...but don't want to head down the road to buying one only to regret it later...
