Very similar situation, and even funnier because the driver hung his car up on a pylon after dinging another car and trying to get away.

What is wrong with some people. This guy also tried to "put er in 4wd" and did nothing but completely destroy the rear hatch, it took the tow truck driver two hours to get him off the bollard, it nearly went through the floor.

The amount of intelligence in the Universe is constant. As we, and possibly other life forms on other planets, breed uncontrollably there is less and less intelligence available per individual. Some of us are lucky to get a larger chunk, most people are not that lucky.

In this guy's defense. he is driving a big honkin SUV and those bollards are less than half the height to his windows. I have never hit anything with my PU truck but I can't see a damn thing. I can see that happening quite easily with a large vehicle.

Looks like the driver was an idiot, however, those bollards in that pic are completely evil. I'd be willing to be it wasn't the first driver to back into those things, just the first tall enough to get hung up on them.

On the other side of that argument: Whatcha bet there's a backup cam system in that monster, and the driver still managed to wedge himself up there?

I'm a firm believer that you shouldn't be allowed to purchase a vehicle that you can't pass the 5-cone manouverability test with. I think it would cut down on a lot of this sort of crap, and many other accidents. No more would you be allowed to borrow someone's Mini to pass your test, then go out and buy an SUV that you need a stepladder to get into.

That's a good point. In NYC when people take driving lessons, the driving school's cars are usually small, economy cars, and they're allowed to take the test in that car. Then they go home and get into an SUV or a minivan. Besides, both written and driving tests are a joke. Still some people manage to fail the driving test over 10 times and still get their DL.
