There seems to be a bit of confusion here about my end result. We have all seen idiotic lash-ups like the guy who duct tapes a regular flashlite to his handle bars. The result looks amaturish, a bit desperate, and is almost totally inefficient. I use purpose-made bike hardware for all my attachments. Everything is black or silver and it looks like it is all part of the same rig. The lights are easily turned on or off or adjusted while on the fly. If want, I can remove the lites in seconds and stick them into one pants pocket. They are very securely attached and don't flicker or cut on & off. And if you can't easily see where you're going with nearly 2 dozen leds, your nite vision is probably not GOOD ENUFF to ride at nite anyway.

The main grocery store where I shop, employs the poster boy for the homemade junk that "stands out like a terd in the punchbowl". He rides a cruiser bike with an enormous basket and panniers. Taped, tied, glued and bolted to his rig is a bewildering assortment of red, amber, and white flashlites, lanterns, flashers and strobes; including a pair of flourescent tube lanterns! I'm dying to see this rig at nite. It must look like a traveling carnival wagon. By contrast, I often stop at the local library on week-ends on my road bike where there is always a fair collection of bikes at the rack. Often I exchange pleasentries with other bikers who are coming or going. Never has one of them questioned my lite set-up. I can only assume that it is because they don't realize it's "homemade". It just looks right.

Besides, I had FUN "engineering" this to look professional.

Could you post a pic of your setup? I'm especially curious to see the "hockey puck be seen" lamp in action.

Spudd, I would have already done so if I was at all set up for it. The "hockey puck lites are exactly the same "as seen on TV" for auxilary lighting in closets ect except these have 3 leds instead of one . The back unscrews and allows access to the batteries. Beyond the batteries, is a triple led unit mounted into a reflector. This is covered by a clear lens and finally, the outer retainer. Imagine a hockey puck that has a rounded edge and 3 leds protected by a clear cover dead center of the rounded side. The lights are turned on by pushing on the lens. Best I can do w/o a photo. Hey, I don't even OWN a camera anymore.

Puck light:

Are these the type of Led lights you are using with the pill bottle lens for the tail light?

Close, Jtkyg. But the ones I use have 9 led lites not 4. The "puck light" is close also. I use it for a running light mounted high and centered btwn the canister-style lights..Did you belong to the AVA dept. in High Scholl? Thanx for the help!

Yeah I still have the 9LED flashlights (more robust than the ones pictured) I used originally, and use them sometimes around the house now.
I may still try the puck light idea, though, for a wide "be seen light".
