Knicks hygeine - return trip?
 

To all you commuters that wear bike knicks, or clothing/underwear or some description while riding too an from work.

Would you wear the same pair of knicks to and from work? I'm presuming the situation of where you ride in, change into work clothes and then change back into the same cycling clothes you rode in wearing, for the journy back home.

Or do you bring a spare pair for hygiene reasons? Is it the same story for all your cycle clothins?

I understand your hygiene concerns. The trick is to stay clean. My routine has been to take a shower at night after the commute home then take a shower at work. Rinse, repeat. If I didn't commute that day I take a shower at nigh anyways. It also helps a lot to find a place to let your bike knicks/underwear air dry. IF you keep em in a place where it doesn't dry up then bacteria will grow causing the ickiness.

I wear the same cycling clothing home that I rode into work with. Shower when I get to work and hang my cycling clothing on hangars in a locker at work. They're usually dry when I don them for the ride home.

I ride to work 5 days a week. My shirt/singlet lasts for a whole week and my shorts last about 4 weeks. I hang them up at work but unless it's raining they are not wet.

I shower before work and take it fairly easy coming in. On hot days I switch to boxers and let the shorts dry out. When I used to have a longer commute under sweatier conditions I did bring a clean pair to ride home in. I was riding a lot more then so I was a lot more sensitive to saddle sores.

Yup. Hang up my commuting clothes to air-dry during the work day and put them back on for the ride home. You need to have a nice airy space though; I tried leaving my sweaty clothes in a gym locker for the day, and they were just as wet in the afternoon as they were in the morning. Now I use a coat tree in my cubicle.

I didn't at first but eventually did. cleanup before you ride in then hang them to dry during the day before the ride home. wash and air dry overnight every night or cycle in a 2nd pair for better drying.

Get to work, shower, festoon shorts and shirt around office, put them on again and ride home. Wash kit overnight.

Wearing not-clean clothes home is not a health hazard.
No need to be obsessive about cleanliness.

Shower in the morning, take it easy on the ride to work, hang up my bibs and jersey. I keep a tube of wet ones wipes to freshen up and slap on some deodorant and a quick spritz of some old spice spray can so I smell nice and fresh!

Pretty similar to everyone else... shower in morning, ride in, hang them up, then wear them home at end of day. Helps that I only have a little more than four miles each way... might reconsider if the commute gets longer with my upcoming move next summer, but I doubt it.

Shower in the morning and bring my cycling shorts into the shower with me. They get hung to dry for the ride home. I change shirts and socks for the ride home.

It can be pouring rain,I get splashed my mud,grease in my hair,on the way to work,THAT will be the cleanest I'll be all day until I get home.

By the time I get off work,my arms will be covered in grease up to my elbows,I'll have anti-seize on every part of me and machine coolant all over the front of me.

You people crack me up sometimes.....This IS the same stuff that was INSIDE your body a few minutes ago....

I share an office and multi-mode commute by bike and bus as well, so have to be conscious about oderiferous cycling clothing even if it doesn't bother me. I took an old tall metal storage cabinet that was about to be surplused from work and parked it in my office. It's roomy enough inside that wet stuff can dry, and keeps any odor from entering the main room. I usually do a towel bath in our storage room if I ride in. I'm not shy about spraying down my riding gear with Febrize or other deodorizer if I have doubts about their 'presence'.
