2nd Shift Commuters
Which ride do you like better... The ride in? Or the Ride home?
I personally like the ride home. I like the quietness of the streets at night. I have them all to myself, and it's the best way to unwind when I get home. |
Ride home. Ride in always have to rush. Ride home can relax and take my time. I always like riding in the night better. Although been getting cold lately riding home at 2am.
|
I work third shift, I generally prefer the ride in to work, some nights I don't even see a half dozen cars on my six mile commute.
|
I like the ride in. I can leave whenever I want. I can get in long rides, hilly rides, stop for errands, anything I want. A nice long ride in leaves me feeling just right for my workday.
I like the ride home too, but the the ride in is better. |
Another (ex) third shift worker here, I used to love the ride in, little traffic to worry about and a general peace, until I got to the pubs anyway. There was also a certain satisfaction in the ride home in the morning, knowing that everyone else was going in to work. :D
Now I've just started college for the year again though I prefer the quiet rides still, but they vary. I either have to leave far too early to avoid the school and work traffic, and depending on what time I finish I'm either just before the school traffic, slap bang in the middle of it, just before the work traffic, or slap bang in the middle of the work traffic. So it all varies. |
I like the ride in a lot better. It's daytime. I live in kind of a dicey neighborhood, and while I like the lack of traffic at night, I don't appreciate having to worry about everybody walking the streets at midnight like I did last night. I don't know why, but it seemed like there were a billion people on the streets last night. I worry about people trying to mess with me.
At least during the daytime I can really see them coming, and I can take a route in that cuts down on the car traffic. |
