Additional charges were possible, police said.
Oh, yeah, they're possible. After spraying mace at a couple of cops, you can be sure additional charges are coming. I bet the only reason they haven't been filed yet is because they're taking their time making sure they convict the guy of something along the lines of felony assault on a police officer.

Awesome! You know we don't get many of these stories but I'm glad they caught that b******!

The ironic thing is that if he hadn't fled, they wouldn't have really cared that he was trying to steal a bike...

I got a profile of this guy: he is a triathlete--he loves cycling; he jumped into a river and got out fine (good swimmer), and it's not hard to imagine how fast he ran after spraying mace to the cops. Any triathlete here recognizes your teammate from the picture? :D

No, it's because he dared to spray mace to our police officers that the crime becomes serious.

He sprayed two security officers, not cops. Still, in some states Mace is illegal, not sure about Ohio. That's why I carry bear spray :D

I'm more impressed with the security guards. Ours usually won't get out of their vehicles and seem to park in the most obscure of locations.

I was wrong pepper spray is legal in NY as long as purchased from a pharmacy or authorized arms dealer. I gotta get one then instead of my bear spray.

Seems like bear spray would work just fine :)

I'm sure, but it's huge, the size of a soda can, just a bit thinner. When I park my bike in a public place I take it with me, if I go into a store, for example, I tuck it under my shirt. It's just a matter of time before someone raises objections :D

Wasp and hornet killer is even worse to get hit with, it's legal in all 50 states and has a 25 ft range. ;)
