Sunlite utili-t pannier finally got it.

Well it came in the mail today and it seems to be a pretty darn good bag, i took a photo of the back side for you guys that were interested, also took one next to my laptop for a size reference its a 15.4" laptop. Also ordered Inline 26" fenders through niagara cycle for like 19 dollars and they seem to be the same quality as the planet bike ones they are replacing, just figured id let ya guys know since they are pretty cheap.

So ive been using this bag for over a week now and i have to say for 30 bucks you can't beat this thing. By the way i did some testing with it is very much water proof. I had to do some trial and error with the bungee to get it to work with my current bike and rack but i really do like this a lot. The hooks are also close enough together to use it on my front rack if i wanted:)

Looks nice. How much can you fit in it? Could it take a pair of boots?

General questions: What is the bungee cord for on panniers, how do you install it?

Fizzaly 10-23-10 11:38 AM

I guess it depends on what size boots they are, this morning i put my laptop with accessories, a pair of converse(to wear at work), and my rain pants, and it all fit pretty good with some room left. You hook the "s-hook" to either the the bottom of your rack or in my case i hook it in the frame, and it holds the bag down on the rack

I dont mean to bring up an old thread but ive had the bag now for two months and figured i would do a review. So far its been a great bag very waterproof, fits plenty of stuff, it still holding up perfectly. I do how ever have one complaint the bungee is pretty much worthless ive been meaning to drill out one set of rivets on the hooks to attach some clips to hold a new bungee but havent gotten around to it yet. As of now ive just been using a bungee wrapped around the rack near the bottom of the bag. Also the hooks seem like they were shaped to fit bigger dia. tubed racks fits the new axiom i have perfectly but really doesn't like my older cheaper one. All in all i would give it a 9 out of 10. Even if it had a couple of flaws id still rate it that high cause i mean really a bit over 30bucks for waterproof you cant go wrong.

Ask and you shall receive, the bag is empty in the pics, im pretty sure im going to order some more, we'll see in the long run how well they are made, my buddy ordered some ortlieb's the same week i got this one so i decided after a year im going to do a comparison of the two.

I was going to ask a few questions about the bag, but the pics answered the one about any carrying strap while off the bike. Is there any kind of organization, or is just one big, gaping hole? And in your estimation, would it fit:

-ziplock baggie of AAA cells
-pair of gloves (temps vary, so I usually wear one and carry the other pair)
-lightweight thermal base layer
-track suit pants
-pair of pants/jeans (wear for work, then they get carried home in the bag)
-ball cap (used as a sun visor and extra insulation in colder temps)?

Its just a big gaping hole, i use it primarily for my laptop, it would for sure fit all that. I normally carry my laptop bag and socks and an extra shirt in it, and theres still room for more and i have a full size 15" laptop in a full size bag.

Thanks for that. IIRC, my primary LBS had one of these the last time I was there. I guess I could go in and ask if I could transfer the crap out of my mess bag into it to see if things would fit, and also check out the heel clearance while mounted to the rack.

These look similar to my bag in size. But my bags can be further expanded. The main difference is mine aren't waterproof (nor were they built to be panniers).

My bags are one big area as well, besides the mesh pockets on the outside. I have a backpack I put in one of the panniers. The backpack is what I use for the organization so taking it out to do repairs is easy. I also use a pullstring bag (like the ones from a gym), with the tools wrapped up like a burrito. The bag on the top tube is also a jerry rigged idea of mine. Works great for having items I access often up front (cell phone, extra gloves, gum, water, inhalers). I'm currently working on some front bags and I would like bags like the ones you've got, but I think they may be too big.

Im pretty sure these would fit up front on a larger front rack im planning on buying another to use them as front panniers
