What do you think about these bars? Commuting, long rides, etc.

I currently have just normal drops. I think its a 140mm opening. But with a normal curve. I know salsa makes all kinds of variations of this bar. Actually everyone makes a bar like this and they are all the same, ergo hook part with double grooves. The part I am wondering about are the grooves. This will be going on my steamroller and I do have a front brake that has a canti style lever. Are the grooves going to be annoying or make the tops not comfortable? And does any have bars like this or a close style and can comment on how comfortable riding on the ergo part of the hooks are for long rides? Thanks. |
the grooves are for brake, front, and Campag ergo lever shift cables, rear..
fill the grooves up with extra bits of brake cable housing if you wish, before you wrap the bars. The short ramp is compensated for modern Brifters being so long. there are dummy brake levers for stokers handlebars to put opposite your sole brake lever, but whats wrong with a rear brake, too they come in pairs you know. I don't tend to ride long in the drops, but you know, YMMV. |
