Portland people - A quick question?

Is it safe to lock up downtown overnight?

I'm taking the train down from Tacoma in a couple of weeks and am bringing my bike. I'm crashing with a friend in her room at the Hilton, so I'm not sure where I'm going to keep my bike. The bike I'm planning on taking is not super high-end, but it is relatively desirable (531 framed Raleigh)

My guess is you'd be okay by the Hilton, but no direct experience. I bet they'd let you lock up in their garage or even keep the bike in their luggage storage area.

A lot of hotels have bike racks in the parking garage, or will allow you to bring it into the room.

Yeah, I'm wondering about that. My name isn't going to be on the registry as I'm just crashing with my friend, but I'm just planning for worst case.

Am talking to the girl in Portland right now and she says this is probably not a good idea.

I'd see if the hotel can offer safer storage or will let you keep it in your room.

I would NOT leave my bike locked up downtown overnight. Course, I wouldn't leave my bike outside just about anywhere.

I believe the Hilton does have a rack in their garage- if not, they can certainly direct you to someone who does.

Call the Hilton and ask them if they have a rack in their garage, or about bringing it into your room.

No reason to tell them it's not your room.

Yea, I have definitely left my bike in the luggage room of hotels when I was only an acquaintance of a guest.. Not that they asked anyways.
