Sidewalk riders - call them out?
I live in SLC, which is increasingly becoming more bike friendly. Some of our streets are wide... I mean mega wide! And there are so many outdoors enthusiast that MTB, roadies too, that are aware of cyclist riding on the streets. We have new bike lanes, even some that are painted green.
Still, everyday I see people riding on the sidewalk! I want to start saying something to these people. What should I do / say? I was thinking of starting a campaign and even making t-shirts, "cyclist against sidewalk riding."

Unless it's illegal, or they're riding so fast they endanger pedestrians, I'd spend my time watching for scofflaw motorists instead.

Telling people what they should do is a good way to waste your time.
Lead by example.

The only ones I get wound up over are ninja/salmon riders. I generally live and let live.
I see one guy occasionally who rides along side the road (4 lanes, no shoulder) on the grass, however he was on the right side, just not on the road.

It is a trade off between the safety of the cyclist vs the pedestrians. If they are riding slow, it is not a problem. I used to ride on the streets for speed, until I almost got killed by some blind motorists. Now I ride a car. I don't have time to slowly ride on side walks.

Meh, just let it go. There are tons of sidewalk riders on the campus here. I just ride on the road and set an example.

Id give you the finger or maybe shake my D@#k at you for getting into my business. I ride the road myself but there are those dangerous traffic scenarios that send me to the sidewalk be fewer and further between the more I ride.

Dont worry about them ridin on the sidewalk... They will learn once they get hit by a car or run into a pedestrian. I know from experience. =)

Not safe for work
Most sidewalk riders I see are kids, kids riding with parents, and the occassional adult. I'm guessing some of the adults riding on the sidewalk are beginner cyclists or beginner commuters or rarely on bikes. Pretty much a situation consisting of someone who doesn't feel comfortable with their skills to ride on the road. I think it's best to let them decide when to venture onto the roads. It may not be legal for an adult to bike ride on the sidewalk but throwing them onto the roads isn't the best idea.

I ride about 300 yds of my commute on the sidewalk because there is lots of traffic in that area, no bike lane and almost never anyone else using the sidewalk. If someone gave me flack about it I would probably tell them to get stuffed.

If I said anything I would thank them for staying out of my way, but I wouldn't say anything. 'Couldn't care less.
To the OP: you really need to establish loftier goals.

I'd get my car & wait in a hidden drive on that route, timing my exit with that of the passing sidewalk riders.
After doing this repeatedly for about a month or so, they may get the idea.
Nah, I just ignore them.

I always see people riding against traffic on the road. I want to yell at them. Sidewalk is legit though
