Thanks for this thread. It was definitely my wake up call to get my act together. I also heard that there's a possibility for snow on Thursday and/or Friday. The other day I ordered studded snow tires for the trike. A few hours ago, I changed to studded and fixed the problems that I had with the DF because I'll be commuting with the trike for now. My plan is to use the trike as long as there isn't more than about 1" of snow on the roads, and use the DF for the deeped stuff.

One always needs a "B" bike no matter what the season is... just need to fit a rear fender to keep the spray off.

I'm thinking of getting some neoprene sock and let my shoes get wet, but at least my feet will be dry :)

I live in Portland, and I have found that it is not about keeping my feet dry, it's about keeping them comfortable. I wear thick wool socks with Keens down to near freezing (even in the rain) and Wool socks with Merrells when it is below freezing. Wool will continue to keep your feet warm, even when wet. I lived in Sunnyvale for four years, and I wouldn't wear anything but wool socks and Keens on the bike if I was still there.
