I don't know, that model has one of the most bizarre cases of helmet head I've seen.
I know that Sweden has a cool climate, but I'm not sure how I'd feel about a heavy scarf around my neck in 100 F degree temps.

Now you can protect your head and be ready to be a judge in a British court with one silly doodad.

born again cyclist
it looks pretty uncomfortable. i mean, i don't even wear turtle necks because i find them too chaffing, so i guess i'll just be sticking with my regular old helmet for the time being.

At least a model has come out. Maybe the designer will redesign one for the summer.

Interesting concept. No place to install my PBSF or helmet flashlight. It does look neat like something for a joust or gladiator. I'll be more afraid if I accidently wear it backward and it popped up in my face

Someone posted videos of that about two weeks ago. It reminds me of an old B movie where prisoners had collars that would explode and decapitate them if they wandered too far away from a transmitter.
I would be worried about going head first into something with that "helmet" on. It looks like your head would easily slide under it and hit full force into anything that you would hit head-on.

I like MAD magazine's airbag (originally for roller skaters). As one feels oneself begin to fall, quickly reach into back pocket and pull out air mattress. Inflate immediately (huff, huff, puff!). Throw down in front of you and fall!

What could be more useful is the foam that deployed in the movie Demolition Man when they crashed the car. Imagine falling down then the foam envelopes you like a cocoon before you hit the pavement. That would be sweet.

Airbags in cars use explosive charges to deploy since they have to open so quickly. Drivers who sit closer to the steering wheel have suffered burns on their faces and necks from the charges going off.
In order for that helmet to deploy it would need to have a similar type of quick-acting charge. I wouldn't want it right up against my face and neck.

They did have exploding colars in Running Man too. The movie that I am thinking about came before Running Man in the early 80's. I can't think of the name of it. The plot is a guy is framed and sent to prison. The "prison" is actually an amusement park where all of the prisoners have exploding collars. If they get too far away from a transmitter, the collar explodes. The protagonist rewires his collar and another prisoner's collar so that instead of being in range of the transmitter, they have to be in range of each other. They escape and seek revenge against the framers.

Not only would I be worried about the heat and abrasions from that deploying, what about the noise of it, so close to your ears?

The movie, starring Rutger Hauer (a sure sign that it's a B-movie), is called Wedlock, which was also referred to as 'Deadlock' when released.
