male-stripper-style rain paints?
so anyone aware of ripoff rain pants a-la' Full Monty? velcro? snaps? :D
trying to save some time on my commute, plus i think they could be more ergonomic thanks again in advance |
I'd buy 'em. My commute is only 15 minutes, so I'm not gonna wear some $80 pants that you have to change into, but I hate getting soaked in the leg area!
|
No, but I know a few wardrobe mistresses that would be glad to make you a pair.
REI and Campmor both sell full zip rain pants as do most sporting goods stores. Most rain gear manufacturers make at least one style that is full zip. |
hmmmm
yeah full zip is ok...
but to be able to whip em' off ***WAP-ISH!!** upon entering work... |
I got issued a set as a lifeguard at this waterpark I worked at. They were pretty awesome. But I think my ex stole them:(
The speedy removal of pants can be quite awesome! |

I have an expensive pair of gortex rain pants from EMS and both legs unzip entirely from ankle to waist
|
Buy e'm, ride your fixie to work, bunny hop onto the hot receptionist's desk, track stand, ***WAP-ISH!!!**, get promoted, rule the world.
|
I have full-zip rain pants (Marmot Precip) that I use for hiking and riding my bike. But I do find it kind of disturbing that the OP refers to these as male stripper pants. ;)

I didn't want to click the link while at work, but there's a site called abcunderwear.com that advertises breakaway pants :innocent:. Working class english accent sold separately.
But search under "breakaway warmup pants" and you'll find lots. Rainproofness, who knows? |

What do you wear to commute in a padded crotch thong? :D

I live in the SE USA, where it's generally 80-100% humidity in summer and still often >50% in winter.
Any full rain pants I've tried result in so much perspiration retained that I still end up wet, and also stinky too. Jackets are a little better situation since they are designed with vents and can mitigate perspiration. I bought some Rainlegs a few years ago. They're designed to keep your crotch and thighs dry in moderate, scattered showers (not hard rain), and they work well for this purpose. Naturally, you need fenders on any proper commuter bike, and these help make Rainlegs work. They are normally worn rolled-up around waist like a fat belt, then deployed as needed by unrolling and pulling 2 velcro-ed straps around backs of your thighs. They actually work well and most of the time are as simple as snapping on a belt. Hard to find good pics of this feature: http://www.velo.se/view.php?id=2411 http://www.rainlegs.co.uk/ http://www.wiggle.co.uk/us/rainlegs-leg-protectors/ I bought my Rainlegs at wiggle.co.uk, who gives speedy, free shipping to USA for order totals >~80 bucks. Wiggle has periodic 48 hr sales where i found the best delivered price anywhere on tubus racks and brooks saddles. It's a little silly that the best deal I could find was across the Atlantic ocean, and shipped for free faster than an order from Performance Bike in Chapel Hill, NC. Go figure. |
Check a sporting goods store. Basketball players wear that style to peal them off quick when checking back in to a game.
I have a free pair of rain pants that I got as a giveaway at a golf outing. They fold up really small & work well when the sky opens up! |
