Funny enough, the other saddle I want to try on the road bike besides my Swift would be an all-carbon saddle like what was being talked about in the Road forum recently. One of the guys bought a Taiwanese carbon saddle off of eBay under the Merek brand name, and he liked it quite a bit. Said that its shell flexed to fit, so I dug up some Youtube vids to see for myself. Yup, some of them flex in the same way the Swift and B17 do.

Will I change from riveted leather to molded carbon fiber? Not sure, but it's tempting when the carbon saddles are cheaper than what I paid for the Swift off of CL.

You want to trust a Chinese made saddle or seat post not to break is up to you, and I mean up to you, because your taking a chance of getting a ream job. NOT ME!!! I don't swing that way.

Exactly. But try as many as you can before you buy - or swear by one brand. That's the hard part if you don't have lots of cycling buds or if your LBSs don't have a saddle "try out" plan. Some actually do.

Of course...if it ain't broke don't fix it. Your Brooks makes you happy, problem solved. The OP didn't sound all that enamored with Brooks or at least one Brooks' model.

They're all Chinese-made anyway (or, in my example, Taiwanese...). Brooks and a few Italian brands are probably the only ones not made in China/Taiwan/Vietnam/etc.

I also don't think the hype about Brooks comes from people trying to justify the cost, especially when it comes to the B17 since it's at the cheap end of the scale. There are plenty of other popular saddles that cost more.
