A bit warmer coming in today, just below 40. Quiet streets for the most part, one jacka$$ ran a red. I'm trying to do my treadmill runs in the morning before I go to work and I notice that I feel much colder going out to ride after warming up as oppossed to jjsyt going straight to my bike from hoime.
Coming home last night I had the pleasure of riding with a colleague and then having three other commuters come up on us at a stop light. Great to see so many out.

50F for the ride home yesterday. A kitted out guy on a road bike rolled up behind me at a light, then sucked my wheel for a mile or so, before I had to turn. I bet it was like drafting a semi, with my dual panniers and Jones bars. I guess my pace was acceptable since he didn't try to pass me
This morning was downright balmy - 38F with the ride home predicted to be in the high 50's. I'm going to get spoiled, and I'm with Fizzaly - SLC's bound to have some backlash days soon.

Left at 6am, about 30F with no wind or moisture, which isn't bad really for late December. A pleasant speedy ride in. I do need to change the batteries in my front light. Saw two other commuters coming the opposite way, both well lit as well.

Finally starting to look like winter around here. After raining for much of the morning yesterday, it switched over to snow. Now the roads are all covered in loose snow that is very difficult to ride through.
The first 3km of bike path hadn't been plowed, so it was slow going. I saw what I thought was someones dog off its leash, but it was just a coyote
. I was surprised how much of the bike path had been plowed, considering most of the streets haven't been. At one point I met up with the plow and followed it along the path for a while. I saw the plow again as I was heading home, so the whole path should be clear by the end of the day. I also came across the same coyote again, in the exact same spot and it ran away again.

Between the holidays and doctor appointments, I only rode to work three days this week and three days last week. 5 miles into this morning's ride to work, I reached my mileage goal for the year, 7,500 miles. I'm not riding tomorrow, so these mileage totals will be my totals for the year.
I also passed a milestone on December 20th. On that day, I became a four year lung cancer survivor. As of my last scan, I was still cancer free, so my goal of remaining cancer free for five years and being considered cured, is in sight now. Happy New Year, everyone!
2011 days ridden to work: 219
2011 commuting mileage: 5354.7
2011 overall days ridden: 263
2011 overall mileage: 7519

Back to work this morning with 19° temps and a little wind. Overall not too bad. The marino wool jersey did it usual great job of keeping me warm.

Gorgeous morning... rode shotgun with my wife as she ran some pre-work errands and rode a nice 10 mile loop.

Only 2 days of missed riding this season. It is incredible for western ny. Today was rainy in the AM and clear on the way home--almost tepid. The rides are always inspiring and who minds driving in snow as long as the roads are clear and the wind is manageable.

After a night of freezing rain, the roads were clear of ice in the am, but the MUP covered with a fine layer of ice pellets. Took it slow and did just fine. Mid 40s on the way back with heavy fog. Fun!

Left the house at just after 6:30 this morning. Temp was 37f, but it felt a LOT colder. Had to stop after only 1/2 mile to put on warmer gloves. Forgot my shoe covers, so I'll be doing the plastic bag improv for the ride home.
