Anyone from Columbia, MO?

Hi All!

I might be moving to Columbia, MO soon and was wondering how bike-friendly the city is. Are there a lot of cyclists on the road, even in the winter? Are the motorists pretty accommodating or will I likely be yelled at with the typical "get off the road!" Does the snow get plowed pretty quickly? I currently commute 5 days a week, rain or shine, all four seasons in Boston. I know that there is the MKT trail that connects to the larger Katy trail, but since I ride primarily to get from point A to B, I'd like to get more info on the cycling culture in and around Columbia (not a trail that leads you out of it). Thanks!

No, but I lived in Lake of the Ozarks and Springfield for most of my life . Columbia is a great little town in central MO. There's a lot of college there, so you get a younger crowd and I would say that yes - in general Columbia is a bit more progressive than much of the rest of the state (definitely more than Springfield).

If you commute in Boston, you shouldn't have many issues in Columbia -- I commuted in Springfield, where almost no cycling community exists and many, many drivers have no clue how to react to cyclists on the roads.
