You are operating a vehicle too. And you're not supposed to use the crosswalk when operating a vehicle. Especially at 25 mph. I suggest you pull the log out of your own eye first. (Even if you're allowed to use it, you're supposed to use it in a manner that is safe for pedestrians. 25 mph is not -- and you can't always see that the crosswalk has no pedestrians, especially if a car that pulled into the crosswalk is blocking your view.)

So what? Clearly it's also a common practice for drivers to pull up and stop in the crosswalk, as you see many drivers do that all the time.

Really? So a car driver has no way of getting to the station other than driving over a curb? Surely there is a way to get to the station without entering a sidewalk?

If that alternative way is not very convenient -- hell, use the crosswalk and the sidewalk. Just do it safely and don't whine about the fact that being an idiot about it makes it a dangerous activity. There is nothing in the law or the common sense that entitles you to use those pedestrian-oriented facilities at 25 mph.

Wow, did you even look at the picture? Obviously, the cars do not arrive at the station the same way. They cross a 4 LANE HIGHWAY to park, then take the pedestrian bridge back over the 4 lane highway. I mean, if you really want to waste a couple of minutes sitting at a light to cross a highway, just to come back over it again, be my guest. But the main reason I ride my bicycle to the station, is because there isn't any parking spaces available, thus saving time by using the bicycle. For the same reason I don't travel in circles to get from point A to point B, I don't cross a highway once, to turn around and cross it again.

I never said that it is illegal for a motor vehicle to enter the crosswalk. However, you will fail a driving test if you stop IN a crosswalk, without stopping BEFORE the crosswalk. As such, a motor vehicle that does not stop before the crosswalk is in violation of the law.

And if I had stated that I use the crosswalk at 2mph, you'd be ok with that, and the cars not stopping where they should, blocking the path to the sidewalk?

As I said above, Littleton does not prohibit the use of bicycles in crosswalks or sidewalks. Colorado law:
That said, you could argue that I am traveling too fast for the safety of a pedestrian. But this is no argument for an interaction with a motor vehicle.

I would pull into the bike lane across the intersection as others have suggested and lift over the curb.

He's looking at the intersection of Mineral and Jackass Hill Rd.

It would be rather annoying to cross Santa Fe, pull into the parking lot and go back over Santa Fe via the pedestrian bridge.

Also if you're at a speed that's safe for pedestrians, it'll be easier to maneuver around the cars. No the cars shouldn't be parked there, but 25 mph isn't a speed that's safe for pedestrians.
