i am not in the market for a new (new used) bike. I have replaced parts, so it's definitely a better bike now than it was. Part of my thinking is also that I need a bike that is not nice enough to attract the eyes of thieves. I have been looking at the GF Utopia, but that would keep me worried when I lock it up somewhere. So yeah, I am quite attached to the bike I have right now.
Thanks so much for all the helpful advice, I learned quite a bit.

By the way it sounds the OP is talking about square taper cup and cone BB which most shops don't carry because it's outdated, and to most shops the word outdated may as well mean non-existent.
FSA uses the same spindle design as Profile. (They really are the most ripped off cranks in BMX) Any Profile compatible spindle should have worked, and those are a dime a dozen. Probably why FSA doesn't bother to sell the steel spindle separately.

As has been said, that's an American (AKA: Ashtabula) bottom bracket. 10 to 15 dollars at most online stores, and I doubt they'd be much more at any given brick and mortar store. If the place sells BMX parts, you can get an Odyssey Dynatron BB that has plastic dust covers to better protect the bearings and grease from dirt and grime. It's a quality unit, to boot. Had one, about 16 years ago, until the bike was stolen.
