Well thats not entirely true, I can ride to the site but am not allow to ride on the mill grounds. Totally bummed. I wouldn't mind but from the gate its still a 3/4 mile walk to where my job accually takes place.

Well, I can sympathise with you. I can't bike to work either, not because they won't let me, but because I live 50 miles from work.
Either get a different job, leave your bike at home, or walk the 3/4 mile. If it were me, I'd walk the 3/4 mile. Should be able to walk it in 12-13 minutes. I wish it was that simple for me.

Its a safety issue, i kinda understand, heavy equipment and train train tracks throughout the mill site. They used to supply employees with bicycle for transportation throughout the mill site but had too many accidents, so now its no bikes allowed. However motorcycles still are. I just started there two weeks ago and don't want to push the issue YET. once i get through the probation period i will bring the issue up again.

Well, if they won't allow you to ride on site, at least ask where a secure place would be to lock up.

Oh I thought you were going to bike to the gate and walk to your job from the .75mi in your OP.

I got it... I think.

Maybe try writing up a liability waiver stating you won't go after them for injury from your own stupidity when you're off the clock?
I'd push-coast in from the gate. Not really riding, sure beats walking.

If I were you, I might just walk the whole way. Biking is great and all, but you can probably walk from your house to work in 30 minutes.

I agree, just walk the whole way, get a better workout, and ride your bike in your time off. I used to ride to work year round, then I got a job closer to home so now I just walk.

i usually do see that bias on a daily basis. in this case, i'm not sure. i ride a motorcycle and i've found rr tracks can be a problem for my bicycle but not my motorcycle.

I work industrial construction and many sites are now off limits to bicycles due to injuries. An injury that occurs on site goes on your OSHA record regardless if there is a waiver in place or not. I would definitely ride to work, then walk the distance in and ask for secure parking. Do they allow people to drive cars onto the plant site?

Pick up a good pair of trail runners, then switch your pedals to CX cages.

Practice your CX skills by running in the last 3/4 of a mile. Then you're meeting the safety requirement of being off the bike, but still getting the little bit of extra workout.

No, because motorcycles have wider tires and are less likely to pinch flat, or flat at all in the work environment he is describing. They are also insured.
