How do you avoid helmet hair?

I haven't found this discussed using the search function.

Especially for those who do not have a shower at your workplace . . . how do you avoid helmet hair?

Squirrelli 02-26-11 10:03 PM

I don't really mind helmet hair, but I guess you could bring a comb to work.

bengreen79 02-26-11 10:07 PM

Try a wet paper towel to move it back into place. Even better, shave your head.

Short Rider 02-26-11 10:13 PM

If you don't gel your hair, I imagine wearing a beanie would work well.

derekthelion 02-26-11 10:20 PM

Shave your head, grow a beard. You'll still have some hair, and you'll look way cooler. ;)

Scheherezade 02-26-11 10:27 PM

Skip the helmet.

Pinkbullet3 02-26-11 10:29 PM

Says the guy who almost got hit by a car.

Jk! I'd go with the beanie idea, though

Keep a small hairdryer in your desk at work. Or a bunch of hair gel.

DX-MAN 02-26-11 10:48 PM

a.) lose the helmet.
b.) does the men's room in your workplace have a hot-air hand dryer? Turn it up to blow your hair dry.
c.) gel applied to sweaty hair gets chunky when it dries. If you wait til your hair dries before applying, you don't need it.

I wear it in a ponytail most of the time, so it's not a problem. I wear a cycling skullcap under the helmet too.

Ask your barber for a #1 or 2 on the top.

Dries quick too.

Also fairly economical when it comes to shampoos and conditioners.

Buy a folding comb. I just got one. I got a Kent 82. I don't look like I got mugged anymore. I look so pretty...oh so pretty.

BigDaddyPete 02-27-11 06:07 AM

It's one of the reasons I keep my hair short. Also it's nice and cool in the summer.

FunkyStickman 02-27-11 06:35 AM

I trim my hair with a #2 clipper. When it grows out, I get to work and splash cold water on my face, and rinse my hair... that's it.... and towel dry.

On days when I don't feel like bothering, I'll just bring a cap to wear at work.

dwellman 02-27-11 06:42 AM

Don't avoid it. . EMBRACE it:

marmot 02-27-11 06:43 AM

Luckily (?) for me, my hair's pretty thin, and I buzz it very short. No need for a hair dryer, and no problem with helmet hair or head sweat.

jimcross 02-27-11 06:57 AM

Not an issue for me as I have shaved my head for the last 5 years. However, sweat management in the summertime is a big problem for me. In the summer time I have to have a seconds scull cap for the afternoon rides so I can keep the sweat out of my eyes.

I loved that show. I wish there would have been a 3rd season. Apparently FOTC ran out of content. HBO did make them an offer for the 3rd season.

Do-it-yourself buzz cut with Remington clippers.
The money saved goes toward N+1.

Two or three episodes into the second season it was obvious things were going off the rails.

Now, Firefly, on the other hand. . .

Don't go there, you'll make me sad. On the other hand, after the Shepherd Book graphic novel, I'm sort of starting to feel glad they went out while still strong.
