OK, it was near a ball field but still...

Arrr... that explains it!

I ride near two golf courses, I have eleven golf balls now. Two
were still bouncing down the street and I had to chase them
down.

One of the new bike paths will go right through the middle
of a golf course, it is federal wet land and the golf course
can't stop the city from putting the path there. They have
tried.

Pocket knives(one valued at about $75), various contractor tools, golf balls, bungee cords.

Found a Ridgid spade the other day. Almost brand new. Hid it in the weeds in the ditch and drove back to get that one!

BHOFM, Do you have to ride up the "very steep hill"? Just wondered. What's it like?

AlphaDogg 06-14-11 02:43 PM

I found a bong (didn't pick it up, I just left it) and on another occasion, I saw a guy sitting on the MUP with a laptop facing a residential area. I presume he was hacking wifi, but I may be wrong.

So what if you found a bike on your ride NICER than the one you are riding...Do you ditch your bike and ride the new one home????

I've considered doing that, but then realized it was against my morals... So I leave the nicer bike to be stolen by someone with lower morals. :D

I don't have to, I choose to. I don't commute BTW, I ride early every day. Out about 5am for a fifty miler or so.

I have made the hill with one stop. There is an overpass at the top and I don't want to have to stop on the
bridge.

Not a good view, looking down the hill from the end of the bridge.

You can get over 40 just rolling down this thing, I don't go down it often.
I use a little rear brake all the way down to keep it around 30.

Sorry for getting a little off track here.

If that were me I'd ask the dude why he's not wearing a helmet. Then I'd go home and marvel at myself in the mirror all day.

My in-laws live right near Los Gatos. I've seen the trail there, but am always w/o bike (I live in the DC area).

On my commute yesterday, I saw a guy wearing his helmet backwards, visor and all. From a distance I thought he was wearing his helmet cocked way back, but got closer and saw it was backwards. Thought about saying something as I passed, but thought it was probably not worth the effort...

Now I have to try it. It doesn't matter, nobody is around to see me.

Well, I ride everywhere for transportation, technically it wasn't a commute. Headed to the beach, stopped in golden gate park by a pond, sat on a bench. Just near by a woman had a camera on a tripod and was taking naked pics of herself clinging to a chain link fence. My wife and I enjoyed the show.

I assume you had something to do with the new home. Good on you :)

That's funny. It was something like that, just pointier in front.

Maybe he's a catcher for his baseball/softball team and it was just force of habit. :)

I found a multitool last night after picking up my new backpack that will probably be used for commuting at some point.

Other than the kid singing journey/blasting it from his car while acting it out, I think this takes the cake for anything I've seen. Some older guy who looked similar to gandalf with a smaller beard rode off on it.

Here's some interesting grafitti i found on my commute this past thursday. BTW, it was already painted over by the city today (monday).

leggett 06-26-11 10:34 PM

Naked Jogger Guy.

Saw him from the back side (fortunately) on a fairly long and secluded section of the local canal path. He didn't hear us ride up from behind and I nearly scared him out of his running shoes when I hollered a warning to pass. Turns out he's a regular at this and has figured out what time we ride through and has adjusted his time back just enough to miss us. To bad he doesn't know we have a lot of extra time built into our ride. I think we may push our start time back maybe twenty minutes one day this week just to mess with him.

I found an iPad and a Blackberry that people left on the roofs of their cars. Luckily I was able to get them back to their owners, though both were scratched/damaged.

billyymc 06-27-11 06:23 AM

As I arrived at work today, riding up the 1/2 mile entrace to our campus, I passed a killdeer that had decided to lay her eggs about six inches from the roadway, in some gravel at the base of a guardrail post. Silly bird. Hope some of them make it.

Oldsport 06-27-11 03:17 PM

I found a dead bald eagle in Washington DC today. It was on the bike path next to the Anacostia River.
