I do my 40 mile round trip commute 4 days a week, sometimes five. I've been doing it for the past 3 years and love it. I still can't find a way to make it possible to still feel my feet after an hour in 25 deg f or less...but I grunt it out...:)

I work 12 hour shifts so I work only 3-4 days a week; except for one odd situation last week, I have not missed a day of commuting to work since January 9 (last week I worked a 56 hour week that included some training that was located about 40 miles from my house; that day I chose to drive to a co-worker's house and ride in with him). I will also confess to accepting a ride home from a friend from an after-work dinner when the weather was really cold; as a rule I don't ask for rides home, but will accept them on rare occasion if offered.

I ride every day, but my other transportation option is my feet! There is public transit, but the way the routes are set up, I would still have to walk about half the distance, so it seems a bit pointless.

I'm going to start commuting this week as I finally got around to buying a suitable commuter.

My commute is 43km round trip, and includes a ferry crossing of the Huangpu River (no other way across for bikes :( ). I'm planning to start at 2 days a week and move to 3 if and when I feel comfortable with it. Sure looking forward to the fun of it, especially as I tried out the trip today and my new bike felt GREAT! :)

before I picked up a road bike I had been walking to work for a few months straight, rain or shine (it didn't rain even once during that 3 month period). Around the end of february it was getting warm enough that I had to shower when I got to work anyway, so I decided to pick up a road bike so that I could at least get there a lot faster.

I live next to a metro station but it would only get me half a mile closer to work, so it's never worth it.

Moving to Seattle soon, but it's looking like I'll be working in Redmond or Bellevue so my commute might become bike + bus or walk + bus soon :(

Depending on where in Seattle and where in Bellevue or Redmond, an all-bike commute could still be viable. Even in the dead of winter there are plenty of bike commuters on I-90 between Seattle and Bellevue.

My weekly goal is 5 out of 5 days, which allows me to benefit from the energizing workout that I get as a result of riding to work instead of being lazy about it ; - )

When I see this kind of poll, I'm always wishing there was a way to observe the seasonal effect, because I am all but alone each winter, and yet for a few weeks each spring there are zillions of cyclists out before most go away. Also, as many posters observed, sometimes work gets in the way if you have to carry something really large, or bad weather, or bad temps, so I would be interested (and I'm not going to try to launch a poll) to have more of a comparison of how many days you were in-office for the past 12 months or prior year (for those not working in a home office) and of those workdays, how may were bike commuting days, because I'm really more of an 18 or 19 workdays out of 20 average on a year-round basis, than a 5 for 5. As well as your temp range for the year (mine was -2F to 104F, dry bulb, last 12 months).

I would say most weeks I do go to work everyday on bike. If I do miss a day, I run errands by bike for she-who-must-be-obeyed on weekends, so I think that makes up for it.

Every day. When I made this decision, I figured it was all or nothin'. Knowing my inherently lazy ( I lovingly call it mellow) disposition, if I started driving now and again, it would quickly become every day despite how much I currently love my every day bike rides.

Every day for the past 3 years. Can be a challenge during the winter in Michigan, sub-zero temps, wind chill, ice, heavy snow. After about 10 minutes of riding it feels like 15 degrees. I wouldn't have it any other way!

I'm claiming 5/5, even though I don't ride in icy weather (usually end of Dec. til about Valentine's Day here). Unless conditions are so bad that the bus is a necessity, I'm pedaling.

Last summer I only commuted by bike like twice a week at best. This summer I want to bring it up to four times a week as long as I don't have to be anywhere late after work.

As a slight irony, I work in the auto industry!

i only do 2 days a week, it's 60 miles round trip, 15 of the each way is highway, not the best commute in the world, but the days i get to ride are my favorite

the only thing on this planet i hate MORE than DRIVING TO WORK is DRIVING HOME. i ride. last thursday the snow was not sticking to the roads but it was sticking to my clothes as it fell from the sky. in january it was eight degrees above zero (not celcius) and i promise i had more fun on my bicycle than anyone driving. i hate driving. i do if REAAAAAAAAAAAAALY have too. but i'd just rather not. i look forward to going to work cuz i get to RIDE there. i look forward to going home cuz i ride there and it's not work. it's home. i'd rather freeze or sweat or both than be stuck in traffic. who the heck invented cars...... anyway**********

I ride almost every day that I can, which averages 3 days a week. I work in a different city on occasion, and I don't really like riding in rain, so I skip bad weather days in favor of public transit. Not that a little shower bothers me, but I hate riding in a real downpour (esp. on the towpath! Fenders or not, it's tough to keep clean, and those puddles get deep!)

I have ridden all 5 days many times, and I've ridden as little as zero some weeks.
