Went down this morning..

.. but it was just a stop light clipless fall! *DOH

Light was red.. about to turn green, just before the light i was clipped out on my left foot, but resting it on the pedal.. as i was coming to a stop, i accidentally clipped in, but since i wasn't moving.. *whump
Skinned my knee some and most likely got laughed at by at least 30 cars (busy three lane street 6 lanes total, during l.a. rush hour and cross traffic too) and a few peds.

The little rip in my bar tape pisses me off the most. My right knee hit my top tube.. it's a little sore. I ended up catching the cars that were around me, then passed them.. revenge for laughing..

It's one of those "ya know yer a commuta when..."

...you fall off the bike in traffic and more concerned about damage to the bike than your own safety or well being.

lol...

I've fallen off a few times. The pavement is not that hard, apparently. You'd think I'd become more and more wary, but I just keep hitting the ground and finding concrete and asphalt are pretty soft. The big problem was yesterday, because I left my shoe/lock on the ground when I fell off and had to go back home to fetch it, a block away from my apartment. I called out of work. Should have just come in an hour or two late, take some leisure.

Glad you weren't injured. I've done the same thing before but there was no one around. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Also, I bet most the cars didn't see you as they were too busy texting or talking on the phone.

Ride safe,

Jeff

clip-less fail is the best, I love that feeling of despair that takes over as you begin to tip, and know that even if you got your foot out you are still going to drop... like skydiving without a para-shoot. (never tried)

I wouldn't say I love it... but I guess I know what you mean. The thing is, if I wouldn't panic and would just put a little pressure on the pedal, i'd move forward slightly and be able to stay up long enough to unclip, of course I don't think about that till later.

I feel for ya man. Glad it's not too bad. I haven't rode clipless in several years (power grips and wearing any shoe is appealing to me), but I've had the fall too (more than once), it's nice that it's usually only the pride that gets hurt.

At low speed or stopped it's
1- "I can catch it" to
2- "oh crap I'm going to fall" to
3-"did anyone see me?" to
4- "is my bike okay?"

At speed just insert "this is going to hurt" between 2 and 3.

Those patterns are pretty well burned into my brain after 25 years of commuting and all around cycling.
