Rear rack for 24-inch wheels?
I want to buy a rear rack to go on a bike with 24-inch wheels. The bike is a Specialized Hotrock. The kid wants a rack.
Will a rack designed for 26-inch bikes fit well on a smaller bike with 24-inch wheels? Are there any brands or models that I should specifically look for, that would fit well on a smaller bike? |
a rack that attaches to the seat post should function regardless of wheel size. (topeak has racks like this)

Depends on the rear of the bike. Seat post racks are made for that. But a universal rack with do just fine if you have all the eyelits
I've got this on my road bike, 700c and I love it: http://www.nashbar.com/bikes/Product...7_10000_202601 It's cheap, strong, adjusts like crazy, includes a lot of hardware (even if you don't have eyelits on the frame, but you do need them on the axle mount) The bottom adjusts to different heights and I think the lowest one is 24", I'm too lazy to open my door to look. |

You can see pics of it on his bike ( with a trunk/pannier combo ) at http://www.crazyguyonabike.com/doc/p...id=125475&v=1C |

My son has a 24" Hotrock. We bought a Bontrager rack specifically for 24" bikes and it works great.
I did find the following though: http://wheelandsprocket.com/product/...ck-49528-1.htm The description specifically says it will fit 24" bikes. I might spring for that. It's a bit spendier than I was hoping for though. |

Thanks. I did not find anything like that listed on bontrager.com. Perhaps it's been discontinued.

Hi. I am a small adult female who bought the Girls 24" Hotrock Street recently and was wondering if you chose to get the Axiom Odyssee Disc Rack or went a different route. I have been pounding the google search highway and it seems to be quite difficult to find one that says it specifically fits a 24" bike. Thanks for any info you can share.

Blackburn used to make a MTN-24, a smaller version of their MTN-1 rack. I'd like to get my hands on one for my Surly Troll, which has the rack eyelets waaaaaayyyyy up higher than normal. Looks like it'll be tough to find, though.
Bontrager does have this one with a fairly short minimum leg length, I can measure it tomorrow if anyone's interested. The dealer site shows these on closeout, but with good quantities left at all their warehouses, so Trek dealers can get them for you if you need one. |
Delta makes a Universal Mega-Rack for around 30.00 that has adjustments for all sized bicycles. Even the seat-stay attachments can be shortened or lengthened to suit one's needs.
