GT Traffic 3.0
Hi, I've been thinking about purchasing this bicycle for commutting and light touring. I was wondering what your thoughts were on this bicycle. There is an REI near me that has one in my size.
Here is a link: http://www.gtbicycles.com/2011-traffic-3-0-matte-black Thank you, Eli |
The traffic series is a good basic hybrid bike that can be used for commuting. More info on terrain, distance, your own experience with bikes, etc will help zero in on the right kind.
Depending on REI's price, you can get a better deal on some GT offerings at BikesDirect. For example, the Traffic 3.0 is under $300 at BD, shipped. For not much more than the 3.0's retail price you could get the 1.0 with disc brakes. Just a thought. For REI offerings, the Novarra Buzz and Marin Muirwoods 29er are other options, as are the cannondale Quick Series . You mention light touring, which is definitely compatible for a bike that is used for commuting, but depending on your own preferences (and distance, terrain, etc) a drop bar bike may suit your needs better than a hybrid. Test ride several bikes - if possible, more than just in the parking lot - you really need to be able to settle in to the bike. A couple of miles would do. |
