A more comfortable *white* performance saddle recommendation for commuting/touring?

I've been pulling my hair out over the past few weeks searching for a more comfortable saddle than the stock one I currently use.

My Scott SUB 40 bicycle, while it markets itself as an "urban commuter", is really more of a road bike disguised as a hybrid. As such, I'd like to make it more comfortable for daily commuting and long-range touring.

Finding a replacement saddle has been quite difficult as my major requirement is that it must be *white* in color. Moreover, the distance between my sit bones is measured at around 145cm, while most performance saddles are less than 140cm wide.

Any recommendations?

Fi:zi'k Vitesse, a unisex saddle is a 150 wide. I have 2,
but I have black as a preference..
think: get a saddle your butt likes, then a white saddle cover sewn..

then a Brooks B17 comes into possibility..

You maybe start out with hospital shoe whitening treatment,
the stuff is made, to keep the nurses shoes white.

Along the lines of what fietsbob wrote, I would think that an automotive-upholstery shop could recover any bicycle seat in any color. In addition to actual leather, there are a host of vinyls & synthetics that are made to be exposed to the weather (think of Jetski seats, motorcycle seats, etc.)

The materials cost would probably be uber-cheap, just the labor really.

I second the recommendation for Fizik Vitesse. I used to use Brooks B17s on my road bikes and replaced them all with Vitesses after trying one out. The bonus is that the Vitesses weighs half as much as a B17 and costs less if you shop around. I have bought most of my Vitesses for $30 or less on eBay and other on-line sources, and I've seen whites for sale many times (although sometimes they are trimmed in pink).

Great white saddle.
Thanks for all the recommendations so far.

I rode by a several bike shops this afternoon to check out saddles, and was immediately drawn to the Specialized Avatar.

However, what exactly is the difference between the Avatar Expert and the Avatar Gel? From what I can tell, the Avatar Expert appears to be the same as the "Gel" variation minus the gel, but costs about $30 more.

Selle Italia Turbomatic. 153mm wide. Shock absorbing inserts. Available in white although at $190 for the 2011 model you might be happier with the black and white 2010 model on sale for $95 at Performance Bike. Ovalized carbon fiber rails don't mate to some odd-ball seat posts.

The Expert has titanium rails, saving you probably 5-10 grams.

I'm a big fan of Specialized saddles. I have an older Avatar, which I like for my 10-mile commute, but for anything much longer than that the curve of the saddle gives me pressure problems. I can't tell if the new Avatar has the same shape or not. For longer rides, I much prefer the Toupe. It has essentially no padding, but for some reason in manages to be extremely comfortable.

Be sure you have the dealer sit you on the Ass-O-Meter to make sure you get the right width.

This is my recommendation, it's so white it's as white as your monitor - much whiter than any other saddle recommended so far...

...see how white that is?

Everyone butt is different, but mine really likes the WTB Devo. I have it on my road, cross and mountain bikes. The only downside, if any, is that the nose is short. I noticed it for the first couple of rides (such as balancing with no hands), but it's normal now. I own them in black, white and red.

I think it's "officially" measured as a 140 though. I ride a 143 in the specialized mentioned below, but those also tend to come in a wider width... 15X.

I like it because it's flat so I'm supported by sit bones and not the area in between. My fallback would be several of the specialized saddles. Alias, phenom, toupe (not so much). All of those are available in white as well.
