Need help modifying rear pannier rack to fit SS!!!

Hey everyone, so im working on a small peugeot SS project for kicks. Basically a bar bike, but also for random rides through town with the wife.

A friend of mine also hooked be up with a free rear luggage / pannier rack.

but, it doesn't fit. I could just put the rack on my schwinn Mt Bike but, thats no fun.

i want something like this on the SS for trips downtown, or to the farmers market

here is the problem.

i am totally open to modifying the rack itself, but not the bike. the bike has brazons on the low end, but not up top.

just realized too, i need to hook up the brake still too. crap.

any ideas?

any cheap racks out there like this one that i could use fuss free? like 20 bucks cheap?

thanks

Jim

Some hardware store "p clamps" should fix ya up for about a dollar.

would i need t cut the arms shorter for the new p clamps though? the arms are way too long, if i tipped it back to fit, i would look ridiculous, almost 30 degrees backward downslope right?

i think i just may cut the arm down, grind two slides of each flat to fit into new p clamps, new paint and call it good, just gotta make sure the brake will fit still.

before shortening.

It is strange that a rack would even be made without adjustable 'arms'. Wow.

But yes, I would cut down the arms and use P clamps. Or some sort of clamp. You'll need to drill holes in the arms to use P clamps, I believe. There must be some other sort of clamp which would not require you to do that.

that rack was made for mountain bikes.

yeah it was made for mt bikes. just trying to get away with it. :) I was going to put it on my Ducati but that got a lot more weird looks...

Not necessarily, my Trek 620 touring bike came with one just like that. A lot of those racks have non-adjustable arms because they were made to fit one particular frame.
